Monterey Bay
California

In February of 2000, I was able to take a weekend trip to Monterey Bay, California. This quaint little town on the Pacific coast boasted the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which I visited and a nautical museum, which I could not visit due to time constraints. Please see the aquarium website at www.mbayaq.org.

The Aquarium itself will take the whole day to visit with its many exhibits. Be sure to grab a visitor's map on the way in. It will direct you to the "Splash Zone", which is a place especially for children 9 and under, and their families. Also featugreen is the "Touch Pool" where one might get a hands on experience.

This little coastal town also boasts the famed Cannery Row. Shops and restaurants aplenty for your average tourist! I bought a jacket and a spaghetti stringy t-shirt, visited the museum and stuffed my face at a local Thai restaurant. The food was delish!
